Leksell Gamma Knife® 4

Leksell Gamma Knife® 4 is designed to meet high radiosurgical treatment requirements in medical facilities with low patient throughput. The system provides highly effective and safe treatment, allowing you to get all the benefits of Gamma Knife at a reasonable price. "Uncompromising adherence to efficiency standards with the ability to improve according to clinical needs."

Gamma Knife radiosurgery is preferred for significant reasons. Gamma Knife intervention is performed in just one procedure and does not require general anesthesia. After a Gamma Knife procedure, patients are typically discharged home the same day or the next day. This saves significant hospitalization costs (compared to open surgical interventions). During the radiosurgical procedure, 196 cobalt-60 gamma ray beams converge with high precision at a given focus on the target. Each individual beam has low intensity and does not affect healthy brain tissue on its way to the target. The beams converge only at the isocenter, where the total radiation dose becomes extremely high. The dose delivered during irradiation is formed using collimators of various sizes and opening individual sectors. The high precision of the Leksell Gamma Knife system, with an accuracy of less than 0.5 mm, makes it possible to direct a high radiation dose to the damaged area with minimal risk of damage to healthy tissues.
